Dental Implants
At Sydney Laser Dentistry we believe that implants are the preferred option
to replace teeth that have been lost or cannot be restored with any great
certainty.
Dental implants are a replacement for the roots of your natural
teeth. They are made of surgical grade titanium which gives them
strength in thin sections. The implants are gently and methodically
placed into specific sites where they bond to the natural bone, very
much like how screws are used to mend broken bones. Dental implants
require sufficient bone to be available. This bone has to have a good
quality. You will be required to undertake a scanning procedure to
visualize the available bone and any anatomic structures, especially the
jaw nerves, arteries and the sinuses. In some cases there will be a need
to augment areas that will require an implant. If we see any difficulty
in the placement of your implants we will refer you to a specialist
surgeon. We do this because we want to maximize your chances of success.
At Sydney laser Dentistry we will use only world class products and will
undergo procedures with high levels surgical sterilization.
Previously, missing teeth were replaced with bridgework or with
dentures. Although there are instances where the old treatments are
acceptable, our philosophy of minimally invasive dentistry leads us to
recommend where possible the use of dental implants for the replacement
of individual or a group of teeth.
Denture Stabilization Utilising Dental Implants
Recently new products of mini implants have been developed for their use
under dentures. These are relatively easy to place but still require
great planning to optimize their use. These implants are relatively
inexpensive, but will result in dentures that will stay fastly put in
your mouth even if you stand on your head and sing. People who have had
this treatment are very pleasantly surprised and are often able to eat
much better than before.
