About Us
About Sydney Laser Dentistry
Our intention is to provide progressive, minimally invasive dentistry for all our patients in a caring, safe and happy environment.
Chosen Technologies:
At Sydney Laser Dentistry we have chosen to utilise the technology of Biolase. This company is listed on the NASDAQ. All the treatments used by Sydney Laser Dentistry have been ratified by the FDA and TGA in Australia.
Our Use of Laser Technologies:
We strongly believe that lasers used in certain situations obtain more optimum results than traditional treatment methods. We cannot use lasers for every dental need simply because they were not designed for that treatment. For example, we cannot remove amalgams with the laser, we have to rely on the drill, however, we can use the laser to provide analgesia so that the procedure is less painful and there may not be a need for injections. After the removal of the amalgam the tooth will be finished and prepared for a better bonded restoration using the laser.
Our Practitioners
Dr Robert Aslan BDS (Syd. Uni):
Dr Robert Aslan graduated from Sydney University Faculty of Dentistry in 1985 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree. He has been in private practice in the suburb of Mortdale since 1987. Dr Aslan has always been a firm believer in dental prevention, as a philosophy not only in maintaining oral health but also in holistic health. The concept of minimally invasive dentistry whereby natural body elements are preserved ranks paramount in Dr Aslan’s diagnoses.
Dr Aslan has a key interest in Periodontics and Orthodontics bite rehabilitation and beautiful smile constructions. He attends many seminars by the international dental practitioners and applies many of these important philosophies, innovations and advancements into his dental practice.
Laser dentistry represented a huge shift in both dental techniques and the patients’ experience. The accuracy and low invasiveness of his work can now be described as microscopic dentistry. Dr Aslan trains dentists in the use of lasers and has lectured on the subject at the World Clinical Laser Institute. Training in laser dentistry takes him all over the world for the benefit of his patients.
Dr Aslan is a member of the Australian Dental Association.

Dr Nidhi Berera BDS (Melb. Uni)
Dr Nidhi Berera graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2001. After graduating, she worked in a large private practice in Melbourne focusing on general dentistry until moving to New South Wales in November 2005.
Dr Berera joined the team at Sydney Laser Dentistry 2007 as she wanted to expand her skills applying new technology in dentistry. Utilising microscopes and laser technology for dental treatment has been an enjoyable learning experience. This has been a great way for Dr Berera to increase her expertise in all areas of general dentistry.
Dr Berera has a keen interest in Orthodontics and has completed further studies in this field in order to offer her patients a broader range of treatment. Being a general dentist, Dr Berera has found it easy to diagnose orthodontic problems in children early, as they come for their regular checks. This early diagnosis often leads to an easier course of orthodontics for children and teenagers. Having completed Invisalign training and lingual braces Dr Berera can offer many aesthetic options to adults who tend to prefer these over traditional braces for aesthetic reasons.
Dr Berera is also able to treat patients with Oral Sleep Apnoea, with accredited training in SomnoMed. This is a common problem in the community which can often be easily treated with an oral appliance.
Dr Berera is a member of the Australian Dental Association.
Giuseppe Lucifero (Oral Health Therapist)

Giuseppe has a keen focus on preventative dentistry and enjoys working with both children and adults. He is always looking to expand his knowledge through continuing education courses, and is looking forward to utilising his skills at Sydney Laser Dentistry. Giuseppe is currently registered with the Dental Board of NSW.
